There is no doubt that this location is breathtakingly gorgeous and easy to get to… and that’s why it is a popular destination for elopements and micro weddings (that and it’s free).
Walk down a path and get married on the lake’s shore in the summer, or ON the frozen lake in winter.
We tend to recommend you come up here for pictures; if you’re planning a micro wedding with chairs and other equipment, this isn’t the ideal location… especially in the winter time! (Trust us on that last part)
Reservations: Owned by a local mine; no permits or reservations.
Directions: From I-70, take state highway 91 towards Leadville.The lake will be on the left and the dam on the right.
– It’s easy to miss the parking area, but parking is available on both sides of the roadway.
